Top 5 (Probably) Perfect Jobs For A Car Lover
Ah, remember when I used to do these? Probably not, but it’s all fine since that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about a few jobs that you (a car guy, hopefully) might love. Are you looking to work at a place that has something to do with the automobile? Well, there are many options, but here are a few very good choices…
Automotive Engineer
Automotive Engineers are in charge of refreshing current models and designing new ones. And, if you love challenges, Automotive Engineers receive many. An example of a challenge would include having to design a car capable of being stellar on the track, and off-road while still being comfortable to drive every day. It also comes with a pretty good salary, an average of $85,000 a year.
Auto Body Technician
An Auto Body Technician mends cars that have been damaged in an accident of some sort.
Requirements would include some critical thinking, good customer service skills, and dexterity. The average pay for an Auto Body Technician (Annually) is $35,000. Keep in mind that you’d need training in Auto Body repair from a College/University of some sort.
Car Salesman
Well, it’s quite straightforward. You sell cars. However, you must be a GOOD salesman. You must hear the customer out, know their needs. You need a motivation for sales, financial skills, know how to speak well, telephone skills, and documentation skills. The average car salesman earns around $78,000 a year. For an example of a BAD car salesman, check this video out…
Car Detailer
A car detailer’s duty is to make your car look all spick and span. Tasks include a simple car shampoo and a vacuum, cleaning of the engine bay, and more. A Car Detailer usually earns around $30,000 annually, (If you’re good, obviously)
Auto Journalist
The final job we get to is Automotive Journalist (The job I’m currently aiming for). You probably know many famous people in this business, such as Chris Harris, Jethro Bovingdon, Jonny Lieberman, Jason Cammisa, the blokes from The Grand Tour, and many more. The duties of a Motoring Journalist include writing about the latest news in the car world, driving cars and conducting reviews about them. To meet the requirements of a Car Journalist, you must be a great journalist, have a Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, and of course, be a car enthusiast. The annual salary for an Auto Journalist varies. Most people in this field earn around $40,000 a year. While those at the top of the field (Chris Harris, Jethro Bovingdon, etc.) can earn around $100,000 or maybe more.

Mechanic
First one to mention that, good job, and thanks!
You forgot Race Car Driver. Very obvious tho.
Whoops. Thanks!
This was really sweet!
Thank you very much!
A designer maybe? Maybe that is a part of the engineer position IDK
Don’t know how I forgot that, cause I used to want to be a designer. Thanks
This is similar to what kind of jobs car guys tend to be in: Since I’m a trainee pilot, I’ve noticed how a lot of pilots are into their cars. I know this as a fact coz my instructor drives a Mk7 GTI and another a Forester STI with a mad exhaust.
Dunno about car salesperson - they have to cheat and mis-sell to customers, including other enthusiasts. But definitely agree with the rest.
I could definitely be a car salesman. I love running my mouth off about cars and have sales experience, so lots and lots of enthusiasm.
Do I want to be one? No, I’d rather stay away from the salesperson stigma. It’s absolutely terrible.
So, unfortunately, you’re probably right. In a perfect world, being a car salesmen would be great for enthusiasts: making a living promoting the stuff you love.
Working at a Gas station is great too! (The only reason I quit my job is because of my boss and because I have been robbed and held at gunpoint twice in 3 years….and I don’t need that for a third time)
You forgot car-jacker. Amazing job.
Work on your own time. You are your own boss.Get to drive cars fast, try new cars everyday.
Life will be more interesting for you.
It will be like living in a fast and furious movie.
Um, postman delivery boy? Im going to be that 😂😂😂😭😭😭
Auto Body Technician isn´t allways funny but when i get to paint and fix showcars it´s all worth it :D and ofc a upside is that i paint my own cars for free ;P
