Car Survey Results - The most loved car on CT?!?

About two weeks ago, I asked the community to complete this survey where they had to choose which car they would rather own out of 4 choices. Well, the results are in! Let’s have a look at the individual question results:

But that’s not all. I took the list of cars and sorted them by various characteristics. I then gave each characteristic a score depending on how well cars with that attribute scored in the survey. 100 is an average score. More than 100 means that people picked those cars more often than if they chose completely randomly; less than 100 means they were picked less often than expected.

First up is cylinder count:

First off, anyone who complains that inline 4s are for ricers can go home. The inline-4 did extremely well thanks to its appearance in everything from the Honda S2000 to the BMW 430i and Porsche 718. But not nearly as well as that whopping score for V10s! 6 and 8 cylinder engines did far more poorly than I expected however.

Now we look at aspiration type. People seem to favour supercharged and naturally-aspirated engines over turbocharged, which is kind of what I expected.

Now we look at drivetrain and engine layout. FR is leading the game, with MR and M4 not far behind. Apart from RR (seems like people didn’t like Porsche for some reason), it’s a very close contest, so not much can be drawn from here.

Cars from the USA, Great Britain and Japan seemed to score the most highly. Germany did surprisingly badly. It could be because people want something “different”, or because so many German cars appeared in the survey (29 in total; the other countries had 11-13).

Now we group them by manufacturer. It appears as if the three most-liked manufacturers are Aston Martin, Ford/Shelby and Koenigsegg. It is difficult to draw conclusions from this graph however because there are only a few cars from each manufacturer.

The most loved car on CT!!!

If we take the winner for each of these categories, it’s clear that the best car is a front-engined rear-wheel-drive supercharged V10 made by the Japanese company Aston Martin!

Obviously, there’s no such thing, so we have to pick the car that matches the most of these traits possible. Now, we could pick the Connaught Type D GT which had a 2-litre supercharged V10 hybrid (yes no kidding), but it was never put into production, and quite frankly I never heard of it until today. So I guess that only leaves one other car that fits three of those criteria…

Yep. The car that won by the biggest margin in the survey is now Car Throttle’s (unofficial) Most Loved Car! Seems like this system actually has a little credibility!

Now, what do you think the most loved car on CT is?

Wow! That must have been back when CT was really active. But given the amount of work he put in, he deserves it.

Wow… that’s dedication. Even as a self-proclaimed V10 fanboy, I don’t have enough drive to do that.

Archive Aston (Aston Martin squad)

Hate to bother but it says “by the Japanese company Aston Martin”. As much as I appreciate the manufacture mistake, I’m sure most people want it as Lexus

It’s because the winner for the countries was Japanese and the winner for the manufacturers was Aston Martin. It’s obviously not possible xD.

I’m not a fan of the LFA, but I can understand the fanbase around it. Fair win.

I reckon the people who would take the F-Type over the Cayman are wrong. Having driven the Cayman, that’s near enough to absolute perfection that some Indian owned British shed-built wannabe drawing inspiration from Ford, isn’t going to come close to comparing.

Cayman is perfection. Anyone who disagrees is wrong. :)
