5 Cars That Are Muscle Cars In Spirit #blogpost

There are some cars out in the world that while they don’t fit the muscle car mold, they have some muscle car blood coursing through their veins.

One: Nissan GT-R R35

There is no denying that a stock R35 GT-R can be stupid quick in a straight line, to the point where it seems cornering ability takes a back seat. What’s cool about the R35 GT-R is that there’s room to play with, meaning it’s possible to make the car much faster than stock, even though it’s super fast stock anyway.

Two: Bugatti Veyron

This car is ridiculously quick with the wheels pointing straight, but not so when they’re turned; need I say more? It’s a luxury hypercar with a hydrogen bomb for an engine and weighs quite a lot, won’t be handling like a Mazda Miata.

Three: V8 Jaguar F Type

The RWD V8 powered Jaguar F Type is a car with a very powerful engine and likes going sideways and turning tires into white smoke. The designers of this car were probably inspired by Corvettes and Camaros.

Four: Mercedes Benz C63 AMG Coupe

Here’s another powerful European coupe that has some muscle car qualities. The C63 AMG coupe just might be the most like a muscle car out of all European cars, but it still isn’t a true muscle car. I see AMG enthusiasts as muscle car guys love luxury and prestige.

Five: BMW M4

As the BMW M coupe has evolved, it seems as if it’s focus has changed. The E30 M3 was a back road warrior while the new M4 is more of a super fast GT car. The M4 is very quick compared to it’s predecessors and can light up the rear tires on command. The Car Throttle staff definitely thinks the M4 needs more traction judging by what they have said about it.

Honorable Mentions

Mark 4 Toyota Supra
Bentley Continental GT
Maserati Gran Turismo
Land Rover Range Rover Sport
Porsche 911 Turbo
Tesla Model S P100D

Believe it or not, I’d also say the Mk4 Supra. You see highly modified ones roll racing and drag racing. My friend and I have even joked around calling it the redneck’s import. Haha

I don’t agree with the GT-R and the Veyron. But I do agree with the F-Type, C63, and the M4.

Seconded. Muscle cars, technical or spiritual, shouldn’t be AWD.

Why’s that?

Great list! (IDK about GTR, sure it can be made stupid fast but its first purpose was to destroy lap times, muscle cars are all about powerful engines in sedan chassis’s, not sure that exactly translates) I’d also like to add every V8 Lexus ever, especially the 90s, built to cruise with very tunable Yamaha V8 motors.

All of these cars are proof that there’s more to a muscle car than just straight lining

I disagree with all of the european ones.
Far too expensive and with far too many luxuries.
At least you didn’t put any Astons on the list.

The Bugatti, GT-R and M4 are all far too clever to be even remotely muscle car-ey

In what world would a Porsche 911 Turbo be classified as a car that is a muscle car in spirit

A muscle car needs to be a RWD V8 2 door car. So C63 Coupe, V8 F-Type, and Gran Turismo are the only ones in that list that do it for me. The rest of them are great sports/super cars though (and 1 SUV)

Not really, muscle cars have a lot of torque, and the rx7 does not.
