Driver's Car Vs Hooligan's Car #blogpost
First off, I should probably start off by stating my definitions for a driver’s car and a hooligan’s car
A driver’s car is a car with sporty intentions that rewards the driver’s good driving with enjoyment and confidence to push harder.
A hooligan’s car is a car that is the most fun when completely sideways, accelerating like mad on the highway or peeling away from a stoplight; above all, it’s a car that makes you laugh with excitement.
From the cars I’ve driven, the 2010 Subaru Legacy is more of a driver’s car than a hooligan’s car. While you can do donuts in snowy parking lots all day long in it, I feel like it’s more at home in spirited drives on mountain roads. The AWD system keeps the car very planted, the limits of the car are low and accessible plus the car is slow enough to where you can fully experience the acceleration the car offers without risking going to the county jail. Some other cars that come to mind when I hear driver’s car are the Porsche 911, Mazda Miata and the VW Golf GTI.
The 1996 V8 Ford Explorer I drove at a salvage yard is more of a hooligan’s car. You can do mad peels and drifts in it, it’s rather quick and the exhaust note is nice and throaty. Another great (and obvious) example of a hooligan’s car is the Dodge Hellcat. Not many people say 707 horsepower and pure driver’s car in the same sentence. Non-American hooligan’s cars include but aren’t limited to the Jaguar F-Type, Lamborghini Huracan and the Nissan S13.

In your eyes, what cars were built to be hooned? What cars were built to inspire driver confidence?
Comments
My 2002 can go either way depending how it’s modified and who’s driving
In it’s current form, I would consider it a driver’s a car
Ss Commodore Ute full on hooligan car 😂
Dang right
You can even store the bodies/weapons in the back 😂
Built to be hooned… cars with high power and full driver control imo. Like the Mustang, Falcons and such. And driver’s cars, usually low-powered yet gives the driver complete control too, I’d say the Miata, Datsun 510, GT86 and such. I’m not really sure.
Driven to Drive do you agree?
Great post! Good points, disagree on the F-Type being a hooligan car though, it is too beautiful and classy for that. Another very good example of a hooligans cars is a C63 or SLS
Well, the V8 version does mad skids
Besides, you shouldn’t always judge a book by it’s cover ;)
I would say something like a GTI is a driver’s car,and any BMW six-cyl is a hooligan’s car.
Especially the new M4 with all the turbo torque, the older N/A BMW’s not as much
Chevy Blazer is a driver’s car.
Dodge Charger is a hooligan’s car
you talking about the old K5 blazer or the S10 blazer
Any AMG Mercedes and fast Aussie machine is a hooligan’s car. Ferrari and Porsche are more into driver’s cars.
The Ferrari F12 has a hooligan element to it
Driver’s car: C7 Grand Sport
Hooligan’s car: C7 Z06
Yeah, funny how the new ZO6 is a lot like the old ZR1
In the first picture of the 458 and Aventador, which do you think is the drivers car and hooligans car?
aventador is the hooligan’s car, 458 is the driver’s car
