#FirstCarChallenge A Rover 75 Tourer 1.8 Classic SE

I was looking for something that was stylish which the 75 Tourer is. Some Italian company voted the 75 the most stylish car of the 20th century, and the Italians know a thing or two about style. I want to find something that is practical, which estates/wagons are. Price for insurance in the UK is higher than Charlie Sheen, so I’ve gone for a 1.8. There are two bonuses. It’s luxurious and it’s a manual.

This Rover has done 43,000 Miles. The 1.8 litre K series engine produces 118 BHP. It has a 0-60 time of 11.4 seconds (That’s a bit slow), and it’s front wheel drive (I made a sound of disgust whilst writing that). It’s got an average MPG of 36.4 and it’s annual tax is £240 (That’s almost as high as a bus…..No joke). All that sexy goodness for £2,695.

Land Rover Mondials

This is the second build in a row that I’ve included these wheels in, but they are nice wheels. I see Volkswagens and Audis with them and I think “You know what, they actually look nice on something that isn’t a Land Rover”. Just cross out the Land on Land Rover so it just says Rover and job done. I found some on Gumtree for £300.

H&R Lowering Kit

I’m not a ricer, I swear. I just need something to make the gap between the tires and wheel well smaller, because it would definitely fail the shoe test. I found this H&R Lowering Kit for £200.

Drilled Discs & Mintex Pads

The Rover 75 has disc brakes all round which is good, because have you ever worked on a drum brake. It is the most soul crushing thing to work on, so if it did have drum brakes then I don’t think I would be able to include an upgrade on this list. I found these Drilled Discs & Mintex Pads for £170.

Universal Cold Air Intake Induction Hose Pipe Car Kit System Filter

Mighty Car Mods proved that cheap cold air intake don’t actually work, so I don’t have high hopes for it. Because I don’t have high hopes for it, I’m not going to look for an expensive one, so there you go it’s £17. At least it has free shipping.

The picture is of a Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE001. They look the same, although I could use a better picture, but it’s there now. I have no idea how much Potenza Adrenalin RE003s are, so lets just say £300.

Rover 75 Tourer - £2,695.
Land Rover Mondials - £300
H&R Lowering Kit - £200
Drilled Discs & Mintex Pads - £170
Universal Cold Air Intake Induction Hose Pipe Car Kit System Filter - £17
Potenza Adrenalin RE003 - £300

TOTAL = £3,682

Personally I would of gone for a ZT-T. Same car, just more aggressive styling

Yeah, but an MG Estate/wagon with 118 BHP doesn’t seen right.

Nice! You’re way under budget though, you still have £1381 left.

Thanks. I was going to go for the 1.8 Turbo and upgrade the turbo, but the turbo would have made the insurance a lot higher. That’s why I had £1381 left.
