#mysleeperbuild 1984 Suzuki Fronte aka how to die 101

I haven’t even heard of this car until today. And I already love this little thing.
The Suzuki Fronte was a kei car produced from 1962 to 1988, first appearing as a version of the Suzuki Suzulight. The Fronte was avaiable in many configurations: 3-door hatch, 5-door hatch, even a 2-door coupe, which looks really sweet. I wanted to select a model that looked the least suspecting, so I selected the 1984 5-door hatch. Now, what’s also really cool about this is that this certain generation is front engine, rear wheel drive. You got a powerful 543cc engine producing the equivalent of a Boeing 777: 31 horsepower in a chassis that weights around 1,300 lbs, or 590 kg. A FR car that weighs that much? Sign me up.
So let’s build a deathtrap.

Engine:

Obviously, the stock engine ain’t cutting it. We need something that’ll fit into the Fronte without having to rework too much of the chassis. A Haybusa engine seems like the most logical (nothing about this build is logical) choice. With a turbo setup, reworked internals, lightweight pistons and rods, a titanium exhaust system (with a silencer) and the proper tune, we should make around 500 horsepower..

Drivetrain:

I kind of want to keep the FR layout, but an all-wheel drive conversion sounds stupid fun. Imagine the launches in a 500 horsepower car that weighs as much as a feather. As for the transmission, the stock Fronte trans would snap into about 706 pieces because of the Hayabusa’s sheer power. In order to prevent this, a durable 6-speed sequential transmission will be used.

Interior

Everything will have to go for the almighty purpose of WEIGHT REDUCTION. Because the AWD system will add some weight, we can nullify it by stripping the interior of pretty much everything and gutting the thing. A lightweight steering wheel, one bucket seat, drilled pedals, a lightweight shifter with a hydraulic handbrake, and a digital tachometer will be all that’s left. A rollcage will probably have to be installed for extra reinforcement. Let’s just say screw it and reduce the weight of the windows by making them thinner.

Exterior

The only exterior mods will be tinted windows so you can’t see the rollcage and then we’ll throw on some lightweight steelies cause ya need steelies on your sleeper.

Tires, Suspension, Brakes

In order to not die, we need a solid way to connect all 500 horses to the ground. A set of Tein Coilovers plus Michelin Sport Cup 2s all around should do the trick. A set of 6-pot Brembos with red calipers will be how we stop this beast. The red calipers will add an extra 100 horsepower to our Fronte obviously, giving us a grand total of 600 horsepower.

Final Specs

Engine: 1300cc Turbo Hayabusa
Horsepower: Approximately 500 bhp
Torque: Approximately 300 ft lbs
Drivetrain: 6 speed sequential, AWD
Suspension: Adjustible Tein Coilovers
Brakes: 6 pot Brembo discs
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
Curb Weight: Less then 1,300 lbs
0-60: screw your tesla
Top Speed: screw your veyron
Quarter Mile: screw your demon

And that is how you make a deathtrap. Thank you for tuning in.
