Wouldn’t it be more correct to say that the torque is initially produced in the combustion chamber?
The pressure in the combustionchamber provides a force on the piston, which in turn turns the crankshaft via the conrod, so torque (rotational force) itself starts at conrod and crank.
Isnt torque produced on the crankshaft by the force vector of the piston heading downwards?

The explosion in the combustion chamber produced a longitudinal force, that is in engineering terms even measured in pressure. Torque is produced by the conrod turning the crank, therefore, the system can not produce torque of any sorts without the crank
And where does the 812 produce almost 800lb ft of torque? From a 6.5 NA?
But you can’t transfer the torque to the crank without a piston hence that is why it’s the starting point of torque.

I’m sorry but this is just plain wrong. Torque is not produced in the pistons. Torque is a moment; a rotational force. The pistons move linearly - it’s the crankshaft that converts this linear force into a torque.
The very start of the torque cycle is at the piston. The question might not be worded properly for most to see though.
Doesnt the Regera produce over 2000Nm of torque?
