The Cupra Tavascan Is Another SUV From Seat's Sporty Sub-Brand
If you were hoping the latest definitely-not-a-Seat product from Cupra was going to be something other than a high-riding SUV, we’re going to have to disappoint you. Following on from the Cupra Ateca and the Formentor concept, the now independent-ish Spanish brand has revealed this - the Tavascan. It’s quite clearly not a fast estate, hot hatchback or stylish coupe. Boo.
It’s nonetheless quite handsome, and pleasingly, the crossover doesn’t look like any current Seat products. Cupra is trying hard to differentiate itself here, and it’s working.
What lies beneath the smooth bodywork is a little more familiar: VW Group’s new MEB all-electric architecture. A 77kWh battery pack powered two motors - one at the front and the other at the rear - providing the equivalent of 302bhp.
A 77kWh stash of battery cells isn’t exactly light, though, so the Tavascan - named after a Spanish ski resort - sprints from 0-62mph in roughly 6.5 seconds. The less powerful Cupra Ateca manages the same in 5.2 seconds, for comparison. According to the WLTP cycle, the Tavascan has a range of 280 miles.
Open one of the Tavascan’s discreetly hidden door handles, and you’ll find a space bathed in “diffused LED ambient light”. The cabin is trimmed in leather, carbonfibre and Alcantara, and features a huge central screen. Paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the 13-inch infotainment display can be tilted to face either the driver or the passenger.
The Cupra Tavascan concept will be revealed publicly at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month. Will it be followed up by something that’s not an SUV or crossover? Keep those fingers crossed. A production version of the Cupra Ibiza concept would work nicely…

Cupra is just an exacerbation of everything wrong with the auto industry at the moment. Horrific car from a brand with confused and contradictory identity. Badge and copper details are grim. Since when has copper been a thing on a car?? It doesn’t make sense and therefore will probably sell well.
Well I guess copper is different, and actually might look kind of cool. We ask car makers to be different, and when they do, we complain. Don’t get me wrong tho, this thing is still hideous
I wholeheartedly agree with this. BUT GREY AND COPPER IS ONE OF THE BEST COLOUR COMBOS FOR ANY CAR DONT @ ME
Im not gonna lie
It kinda looks good
Looks aggressive…. Excessively so, but damn, I love it
Looks absolutely abominable 😂
The car off the future doesn’t have a glove box.
Can someone tell them to stop?
Bruh.
This is the car to die for! But if I bought this one, I would be simply terrified to drive it. It may be stolen, scratched at the parking lot etc. So does anybody know the price of insurance for this model? I am going to check several companies https://www.cheapautoinsurance.com/article/what-one-day-24-hour-car-insurance and get the best rates, but if you also have something to include, please do share, ok?
Siriously is looking like trash a requirement for EVs?
Gosh thats ugly! But Seats normaly dont look good anyway theyre boring VW in a bit less boring design
Reminds me of the Urus
