Volvo's Polestar Brand Is Revealing Its First Car Via A Big Instagram Puzzle
The first ever car from Volvo’s Polestar brand is due to be revealed on 17 October, but if you’re feeling impatient, quite a bit of the car has been revealed already.
On the face of it, what Volvo started doing a few days ago - putting out very close-up shots of the car on Instagram - looked like the worst teaser campaign ever. But on closer inspection, the caption spells it out: “time to put the pieces together.” That’s right, it’s basically a big jigsaw puzzle for you to put together in Photoshop.
We did just that in an idle moment, cheating a little by mirroring the image to fill in a few of the blanks. And from the bits we can see so far, it’s looking like it’s going to be a handsome car.
As a reminder, this won’t be a Volvo Polestar - the firm’s performance arm is becoming a standalone concern, with its own separate branding and even its own unique car designs. It’s not just another BMW M Division, in other words.
As for what will power the brand’s opening salvo, we’d expect a modified version of Volvo’s ‘T8’ hybrid powertrain, with a power output some way north of the 400bhp it enjoys right now.

Those middle tail light pieces should be moved down next to the big tail light pieces. Look at the instagram post from Sept. 11
They’re in the correct place according to the numbers, and it looks to match the shape of the S90’s rear clusters

But pls those teasers: I feel that next time we’re going to get a Rubik’s Cube
I would like to solve the puzzle.
Hmmm
When car companies start teasing using puzzles…
…All I know is, it’s not going to look too bad!
I just can’t get over the fact that “polestar” sound like another name for a stripper :P
