A snow plough driver in Utah somehow survived a 300-foot drop after being pushed off a road in Spanish Fork Canyon.

The accident happened last Thursday (ignore the incorrect date stamp on the video), when a truck driver attempted to pass the plough on the right, clipping it in the process. Snow plough driver Terry Jacobson - who’s worked for the Utah Department of Transport (UDOT) for 23 years - was left seriously injured, but thankfully alive.

The truck driver meanwhile has been cited for various various infractions including improper passing. According to a UDOT spokeperman quoted by CNN, he claimed to have been “temporarily blinded” by the plough’s wash and wasn’t able to see where he was going.

UDOT release the video above - along with the statement below - with the hope of it reminding drivers to be cautious around its ploughs.

“When driving near plows, give them at least 200 feet of space, never try and pass them, and don’t cut in front of them. Remember, they’re there to make the roads safer for you.”

If you don’t slow down for a snowplow or a tow truck, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. These jobs get nowhere near enough pay for the death risk…

It’s even worse than that, if you pass a snow plow you KNOW the road ahead is not clear and isn’t in any condition to drive on
