10 Awesome High Performance Sedans That You Can Buy
As a 37 year old with a wife and a son, I need a practical car. As a petrolhead that enjoys going on track days and fast driving on some lonely roads, I need a high performance car. Combine those to one, and then you’ll get a 4 door high performance sedan (or saloon). The problem is, most high performance sedans are quite expensive so I looked up the used car market, gave myself a $20,000 budget, and here’s my Top 10 favorite on the list.
1. DINAN 550i
Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh boy. Holy crap. YES! For 20k, you can get a 550i! And not just any 550i, it’s a DINAN tuned 550i which makes it more extreme. It is an absolute monster. The handling is nice, you get a nice trunk, and 4 doors. The 550 is powered by a V8 and mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. This one has some modifications such as M Wheels, M Suspension, M Front Fascia, M Rear Bumper and many more.
2. CLS550
The BMW’s main rival is also here for $4 more. The CLS is a brilliant car. My brother owns one (CLS 55 AMG) and we both loved it. The CLS is powered by a 5.5 liter V8 with 382 hp to play with. Doesn’t sound like a lot but it is enough to be fun and exciting around a racetrack. The handling is astonishing it is just planted to the road and if you want it to oversteer, it’ll do it. The interior is absolutely nice. Mercedes Benz is always known for their amazing interior.
3. Pontiac G8 GT
Here’s an American car for you. American cars are ignored by the CT staff every time they make “best cars” article. The G8 GT is an absolutely beautiful car. It has that classic Pontiac looks and it is very cheap and more reliable. It is powered by a 6.0L V8 SFI aluminum with Active Fuel Management (355 hp [264.7 kW] @ 5300 rpm 385 lb-ft of torque [519.8 N-m] @ 4400 rpm). This car is an absolute bargain for what it’s capable of doing. It handles really nicely. It is comfortable for some long journeys too. And the practicality is also very nice too.
4. Jaguar XF
I bet you’re expecting a Dodge Charger here but NOPE! It’s a Jaaagg. A very luxurious car. People will look at you like a successful person and you payed hundreds of thousands of dollars on that car but no. You can get one of these for just $20,000. That is amazing!!! The XF is powered by a 4.2L DOHC 32-valve V8 engine. It is such a comfortable car. The interior quality is just absolutely amazing.
The picture above should prove it.
5. Cadillac STS-V
Wow. A very nice car. One of my favorite American cars ever. The STS V. It is very reliable compared to the Euro cars. It is pretty comfortable too. A very nice car to throw around the corners. This car is larger than the other cars which gave it an advantage when it comes to the comfort and practicality. But, it is big. Does it have a disadvantage when it comes to track? No. It is about as fun as any other cars on this list. It will stay on the road and it’s more stable because of its bigger size.
6. Cadillac CTS-V
Another Cadillac. This time it’s the smaller version of the STS, the CTS. The CTS is more fun and yet still practical so it deserves to be on this list.
7. BMW 750iL
The price literally drops. From $19k on the CTS, to $4k on this. How cool is that? Not only that, it has a V12 engine which is always a good thing because there’s nothing more genuine than a V12. And you also bought a Bond car. The 750iL E38 is the Bond car from Tomorrow Never Dies. The 750iL is also a very nice car to drive around track. Planted and nimble car for a LWB. Definitely deserves to be on this list
8. Mercedes-Benz 600SEL
Another V12, here’s an 600SEL
9. BMW M5
Okay we’re back to the proper track sedan. This is a BMW E60 M5 with the special S85 V10 in it. It is a mid sized sedan which means that it has a shorter wheelbase which makes it better around the corners. The M5 is definitely a favorite. Now you can get them for $20k. Now that is amazing.
10. Dodge Charger SRT8
And finally, it’s the Dodge Charger. It is a legandary car. And with the new LX platform with four doors, it is an absolutely fun little car with a HEMI V8 in it. It is also very reliable which will not get you worried about maintenance and others.
Thank you for reading! I created this on a mobile phone and I am pretty happy with the new post creator.

I absolutely love that CLS looks, it might be a “rich pensioner’s” choice but it’s still simply gorgeous… E38 takes my vote too as a fan of BMW, that V12 they used in Mclaren F1 was an enlarged and improved V12 M70 used in E38 750i.
I like your taste. I am a fan of the CTS. But that XF and E38 definitely caught my attention too.
the G8 is not american, it is from the Australian branch of GM aka Holden. Rebadged Holden Commodore SS/
Oh. OK, then.
