Hm, interesting…can you tell me more about this special Celica?

Basically there were two colours of SR made by UK Toyota, black and silver. 250 were made of each colour. Underneath they’re identical to the ST Celica (1.8l Front wheel drive). The things added as part of the “SR package” are mostly visuals. The bodykit, spoiler, SR decals next to the side indicators, and the MOMO alloys were part of that on the outside. Inside it came with a CD/tape player, and I believe for the silver cars it was patterned centre cloth seats, and the black csrs came with black leather seats.

I’ve included an image of the CD/tape combo here.

Is it a manual or automatic

Manual, as far as I know, they only made the SR’s as manuals.

Always liked these. If they were RWD I would have snapped one up a couple of years ago.

A rear wheel drive version of these would be fantastic, especially with a bit more power. I know a few guys who have converted their FWD Celicas to AWD and love it. I may go with some performance upgrades for mine at some point, once I’ve got the rest of the car sorted.

Yeah I bet that’s awesome. I’m pretty sure the Celica GT4s were AWD, though they’re ££££ these days.

Aye, the GT4’s were AWD, some people have taken the drivetrain from wrecked GT4s to upgrade their own cars. Agreed though, they’re getting quite pricey these days. I wouldn’t mind a Castrol rally replica GT4 though.
