Coil packs: worth it?

I saw someone asking about coil packs on here a day or two ago. Are coil packs something that will actually add power? Seems like a really simple mod and I’m interested to see if anyone has any experience?

from what ive heard and (kinda) experienced, yes.
aftermarket coilpacks might be able to give much better spark which in turn will give a better “explosion”, thats my guess atleast..
i did notice difference on my motard after going from oem coil to an aftermarket one

Some people say they can “feel” a difference which is probably just placebo. I don’t think there’s any proven numbers on an increase in hp/tq. Great for when replacing them due to bad coils.

I always wonder about the validity of “seat of the pants” feel…

Take this from me, a Ford technician. The coil pack in your car is more than enough for anything you need it to do.

Coils aren’t really worth much on these cars unless you’re going to go FI IMO

If you are upgrading your plugs and putting a tune in to it, it’s worth it for the low price.

I agree that you’ll need to upgrade surrounding parts for it to be worth it.

I would if you changed the set up greatly, Exhaust, Intake and tune would be the minimum (that’s what i’m at, and i’m pairing coil packs with new plugs and wires at the same time), but it’d be more of a better burn than a performance gain. Give you more efficiency which helps in the power area a bit. For the price of all 3 you could upgrade your throttle body to a 70mm one and get more gains for the same price.
