The Forgotten Cars #13 The Chrysler ME-412
#theforgottencars

This well built Chrysler was a prototype performance concept car (so it was never intended for production, that sucks). Two of these were built, the first was at an auto show version with limited operational capabilities (so I assume that means it had no engine, read a little farther down and you will see it. I promise it will be good). I took them less than one year to design and build this car. The second one was announced at a 2004 NAIAS that it was now running at full capacity.

If you look real hard you can see a motor.

This ME-412 is powered by a 6.0 L V12 that produced a whooping 850 hp. with the ability to shift gears in 200 milliseconds thanks to the sequential dual-clutch semi-automatic (bloody that is fast). Claimed the 0-60 is 2.9 seconds. The 1/4 mile was 10.6 seconds with a trap speed of 136 mph (219 km/h) (that is a slow 1/4 mile). Claimed top speed was 248 mph (399 km/h) (not a bad top speed from a company that does not make supercars. Yes the Viper is not a supercar more like a sports car or muscle car).

Not bad

This car was made of Carbon Fiber, Leather Seats, dual-zone climate control (so this concept was loaded to the brim. Hmmm maybe that is why it has a slow 1/4 mile).

How it got the name ME-412. The M stands for Mid. The E stands for Engine. The 4 (does not stand for the 4 wheels) Stands for the Quad-Turbos that power this beast. Now the 12 (note this is not the months it took to build and design) this refers to the 12 cylinders.

So now you know the name of the ME-412. What is your opinion of this, comment down below?

The reason why it is in the Forgotten Cars is because this car was something special but yet it never saw full production and that is why.

I loved this car ever since I saw it in an issue of Car and Driver. Then of course, there was Midnight Club III. It’s a damn shame this never made production.

It could have been something big. In my opinion this is better than the Veyron

Delightful Citizen (Classic Truck Squad)

Didn’t it also suddenly resurface in one of the Transformer movies?

I remember reading about this sweet thing in car magazines and then finally seeing it up close at a car show for the first time. It was unbelievable.

I remember this thing from when I was like five, loved it then, still do. Plus it was in test drive unlimited so that’s cool too.

As expensive as it would have been, this should have seen production.

Nice read, but I’m genuinely curious, why do you not consider the Viper a supercar? It certainly has the price tag, and performance to fit the bill.

The Viper was designed to beat the Corvette. As both are muscle cars they don’t fit the bill still.

The price tag of $100,000USD. Yea it may be cheaper but when it comes to performance it perform’s poorly.
