Self made direct air filter heat shield.

Hi! I changed my stock air box on my 325i to a direct air filter mounted on the AFM. But with this setup at hot summer days when slowly moving in traffic or after a stop at the light the car became unresponsive and slowly reacting to throttle. My idea was to make a heat shield because the stucked heat in engine bay need to separate from the intake. I searched the internet and found very expensive tuning heat shields. I want to make it myself. I had an old bad oven. Take one side off and use it as heat shield material. First I made a sample from cardboard. I want to make it only with folds that the whole thing doesn’t needed welding or other joining thing. Then I painted it black. Use some U shape rubber to protect edges. And some engine bay sealing rubber at top. The shield is secured by screws at stock airbox mounting point and curving around the radiator to get fresh air from kidneys. Bought silicone elbow from ebay and some steel pipe from a local exhaust specialist. The end result is great. The cost with all parts is one fifth ot the factory one. And the fading from stand start is gone. Revs and pulls better than stock :)

Really well executed! I’ve seen many home made shields, but this one looks like it was done by K&N or something.. Good job, mate!
