5 Reasons Why Off Road Racing May Be The Best Motorsport #blogpost

I'm sure that no matter what I say here, some people won't be convinced. Whether it's rally or Formula One, everyone has their favorite motorsport for one reason or another.

One: It’s Not Just Trophy Trucks

There are many different types of vehicles just even running the famous Baja 1000. There are SCORE classes that include ATV’s, motorcycles, air cooled Beetles, mini trucks, and that’s just a few of them. I’ll put a full list of the SCORE classes down below. Meanwhile, professional rally is mainly now turbocharged hatchbacks.

Two: The Terrain Varies Greatly

Off road racing involves traveling over ground at 100 MPH where your average car could travel over it safely at maybe 30 MPH or sometimes not at all. There’s bombing across dry lake beds, gunning through whoops 2 feet deep like it’s nothing, trying to not get stuck in deep silt and more.

Three: Naturally Aspirated V8’s

There are few things that petrolheads love more than the sound of a naturally aspirated V8. Sure, there are many other motorsports with cars powered by V8’s but with some motorsports going from V10’s to turbo V6’s, it’s nice to see some motorsports sticking with eight cylinders.

Four: It’s A Visual Spectacle

It’s rather entertaining to see off road racers create insane rooster tails of dirt drifting around corners out in the desert. Trophy trucks have so much suspension travel, they can jump high and long and watching the body roll in the asphalt sections is pretty funny. It’s not easy to be bored watching SCORE drivers do their thing.

Five: The Grueling Nature Of Endurance Racing

During your average SCORE race, almost all of the classes of vehicle will be racing at the same time. This creates a different dynamic to it where a decently capable dune buggy will pull over to the side of the road while a trophy truck blasts past it at twice it’s speed. Parts can and will break and are often fixed while the race is still going so they can get back into the action.
