Thoughts on the Mk5 Toyota Celica (or any other Celica)?

I’ve owned 2 generations. The Mk4 and the Mk6. It’s very simple. The 1.6 86hp carburetted AT160 I had for a first car was the most fun I ever had on 4 wheels because it was rusted so hard, I built it into a stock looking car with a straight piped exhaust that spitted flames if you turned it off at full throttle and restarted it. The Second one, an AT200, I had as a project car for about 8 months. Spent a bit of money on it, drove it for a few brilliant months and sold it with a small profit. That one had a 1.8 7A-FE engine and had a brilliant steering wheel and feel. Those 2 cars made me appreciate Toyota and I’ve been a big fan ever since.

Tl;dr: I like Celica’s

So, you would recommend a Celica as a first car?

It seems like a good choice, its simple, reliable and a bit more interesting than most car’s in the same price range

I’m really love the 5th gen of Celicas (like this one).. My uncle had one for almost 20 years… I had almost no rust, and minimum reapair bills… It’s a beautiful car with a nice mix of modern and old classy look (especially with the pop-up lights)

I’m thinking to buy this as my first car when i can afford it ;)
