4 Perks Of Driving Solo

Since I created a post about perks of driving with friends, I thought I would post something about perks about driving solo.

One Weight reduction bro.
This is probably one of the most significant reasons to drive solo, and it won’t take much explaining. Weight reduction has many benefits including quicker acceleration, better handling, better braking, and better fuel economy. Weight reduction benefits both us petrolheads and that cat lady who loves Obama down the street who drives a Prius.

Two You can listen to whatever music you want to.
When you’re driving alone, there’s no one to argue with about what music to listen to in the car and at what volume. That way, you can focus more on what we really want to be doing, driving.

Three No backseat drivers
Some of us hate being told what to do, and backseat drivers can be pretty annoying. There’s always that one guy who’s like, “You’re accelerating too fast.” “Easy with the brakes.” “Slow down.” “You’re gonna get us all killed!”. There’s also that guy that’s constantly giving you driving advice “You didn’t hit the apex right.” “You entered that corner too fast.” “You can’t heel and toe at all!” When you drive alone, you won’t have these nagging voices filling the car, easing your nerves.

Four Driving alone can be relaxing and without stress
Skoda has discovered that “that 60 percent of drivers are happier and more relaxed when they drive alone.” I’m sure a lot of you can attest to that fact. Driving solo is a great way to release stress, whether it’s just cruising along or attacking your favorite back road. It’s like you’re stepping closer to nirvana.

  1. Skoda probably knows that because most Skoda owners are alone.

I understand your point, but when you have a fast car, you have to share that feeling too.

When driving alone you feel more able to make progress without having to worry about the passenger who potentially isn’t a car enthusiast! :)

Talking about backseat drivers, I bet a lot of CTzens hate driving with their moms.
For me, every time I do, it’s all “slow down”, “please downshift” (because approaching a turn), and even “watch it there is a wall”.
Still, could be worse.
