9 Things Petrolheads Love

Since I made an article about things petrolheads hate, I thought it would be good to make a list of things that make petrolheads swoon.

ONE Going to car events
Whether you go to a mad drift event or a car meet, going to car events is the bee’s knees. You can watch skillful driving, do some skillful driving, show off your car, oogle at other cars, and bond with fellow petrolheads. It’s a car guy party at car events, make the most of it.

TWO Sweet engine noises.
Hearing a straight piped Subaru WRX STI do a hard launch from a stoplight will make most car guys stop and stare. Engine sounds are our music, whether it’s a 2JZ bouncing off the rev limiter with anti lag, or an LS V8 idling, it just sounds good to us.

THREE Working on/fixing cars.
Granted, some people don’t like doing this, but most car guys like getting under the hood and messing with things. It could be fixing that exhaust leak you think is coming from one of the headers, or bolting in a new turbo, you’re getting to know and improving your car.

FOUR Perfect driving conditions
This is varied for many petrolheads, but some situations would be good for all of us. A clear sunny day, not too hot, not too cold and no traffic on your favorite road; or, snow has freshly fallen, it’s not too slick or cold and your car is begging you to drift it. Good driving conditions can really make a petrolhead’s day.

FIVE Browsing the Internet looking at cars and parts
Basically all of us do this, heck, just by looking at this article, you’re browsing the internet looking at cars. We configure cars to our liking that we can’t afford and we search for those set of wheels on eBay we deeply desire. The internet is a way we can get a fix for our car addiction.

SIX Turbochargers and Superchargers
Boost, the magical thing that makes us grin. Superchargers and turbochargers alike dish it out in different ways with their own unique sounds. BRAAAAAP STUTUTUTU and wwwheeeeEEEEEE!!! Either way, with these compressors your car gains extra power and extra character.

SEVEN When people compliment your car.
“Nice car bro!” “Thanks!” This exchange makes us proud and happy, because someone else appreciates your car as much as you do. It’s like some cute girl calling you handsome, it brings us pleasure.

EIGHT Driving
“Shut up and drive” Driving in it’s many forms satisfies us immensely. Drifting, canyon carving, off roading, track racing, drag racing, all of it seems to be the reason we live and breathe. Nailing that apex, getting madly sideways and making a perfect heel and toe downshift is just spectacular, no other way to put it.

NINE Cars
This point is SUPER obvious and I’m beating a dead horse here, but I had to put it. Petrolheads just… love… cars. Thank you to the early pioneers and inventors that paved the way for the steel beauties we have today. Cheers!
