Here's a question: If BMW puts ///M logos on non ///M cars from the factory, why is it so bad if owners put them on? I have 1 on the wheel, 1 on the shifter, 2 on the sills and 4 on the wheels from factory. Not that I want to put any on..

Because it means you have the M-Sport package. If you don’t have an M-car or a standard car with the M-Sport package, then the logos should not be there at all.

but people still seem to hate on M-badges on m-sport cars, isn’t that the case?

In my opinion, i’m fine if people put just “///M” badges on their cars, I just hate it when they put “M5” badge on a 520d, it just makes you seem like a wannabe, if i had a bmw or any car for that matter, i would make it look like my own, instead of making it look like something its not. Its like putting a type r badge on your civic hybrid, its just…wrong.

I see some 520d with M logos everywhere… Its just not necessary. It’s fake. I saw a standard 520i with a projector under the doors displaying the M logo when opening the door. That’s just ridiculous. If it was standard from BMW like on your 330i then it’s okay because its a package they give you from the factory.

I think these people are usually not even car enthusiasts, just everyday people who like BMW and ///M. Like Ferrari fans wear Ferrari baseball caps, ///M fans like to put ///M stuff everywhere.

the M logo in the 520d doesn´t stands for M5, but for M Sport Package, i can´t see the problem there…

My car have that as well, but is because is a M package…Doesn’t say M3 or nothing, just little ms here an there.

When they say “ omg is a m3!!” I always says “No dude I wish, is only a Mpackage”

That’s not the problem. The ///M badges that come with the M Package are very subtle, and NEVER in the boot lid.
Therein lies the real problem. Putting a ///M badge in the boot lid, like that would magically transform the car and turn it into a proper M.
To me it doesn’t matter if it is a F30 340i (The closest thing to the F80 M3), the ///M badge doesn’t make it a real M3, FAR from it. To do so is to be a poser, and I really hate that.

The issue is that you are trying to pretend your car is something it isn’t, and frankly most car enthusiasts don’t like that. At the end of the day, your car is your car and you get to chose what happens to it. :^)
