1993-2002 Chevrolet Camaro I’m partial to this myself, as I own a 2000 Camaro Z28. Best engine choices are either the 300+ horsepower LS1 or 275 horsepower LT1 V8’s. The LS1 will carry a price premium, even more so with the T56 six-speed. The 3.8l is no slouch either, putting out just north of 200 horsepower and can be had with a T5 five-speed. Growing up in America during the mid 2000’s, the MK4 Supra served as the benchmark for a successful life. If you had one, you were THE MAN. Women, money, celebrity and local stardom abounded. Even today when you see you in the wilds, it just HAS to be a 1000+ HP monster capable of demolishing anything on the streets or strip. Now i’m in college, and the cheapest Supra i’ve ever seen was 15,000 USD for an N/A automatic half primer, half faded red. This article is dedicated to that hero of entry level Supra ownership. Crazy right?

13/22 mpg 3.4 sec 0-60 707 hp 650 lb/ft at 4800 rpm
6 piston front Brembo's, 4 piston rear. The Dodge Charger Hellcat came to life in 2015 as gas finally dipped below 3 Dollars a gallon in much of America. With the underpinnings of both the Challenger and Charger dating from early 2000’s Mercedes Benz, what they lack in modernity is made up by their hellish engines.

The 3rd generation MR2 debuted in 1997, becoming perhaps the least interesting generation visibly. This gen. is notable for the lack of t-tops or a sunroof in the U.S. as just the ‘Spyder’ convertible was offered. A 5 speed manual in the US, 6 speed manual in Europe, and 5 speed sequential manual transmission were offered. Engine output is rated at 138 hp @ 6400 rpm and 125 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm. Combined with a base price of 25k USD, this seemed like an enthusiasts car on paper, and if you can get past the odd looks and the stigma associated with the low output, it delivers.

Like Chief Keef said, sorry for the wait. In the month since i’ve last posted, i went on vacation and as of today i’m attending college at my local Penn State branch. For a school based in a rural area, the cars these kids drive to school is just amazing. The 2004 GTO that inspired this post, a Nissan GTR, Challenger Hellcat, a 6 speed 740 volvo turbo wagon… I’m in love. But back to the GTO.

The Geo Metro was born of a union formed in 1981 between GM and Suzuki (and Isuzu) allowing GM to market the Suzuki Cultus as a captive import internationally under more than a dozen nameplates including the Geo Metro, Chevrolet Sprint, Pontiac Firefly and Holden Barina. Geo models were manufactured by GM in joint ventures with three Japanese automakers. The Prizm was produced at the GM/Toyota joint-venture NUMMI assembly plant in Fremont, California, and the Metro and Tracker were produced at the GM/Suzuki joint-venture CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.

This may very well be my next beater car… With that said, let’s get going! The Hyundai Tiburon was sold in the U.S. in two generations, the cute 1st gen from 96-2000, and the sportier RX8-esque 2nd gen sold from 2003-2008. The first generation was available in three trim levels, with base, FX (“luxury”) and the sportier RD which wasn’t sold in the US though i’ve seen a few around. The base model was powered by a 130hp and 122 lb/ft 1.8l taken from the Elantra, good enough for a 9.0 second 0-60 and a top speed of 122mph.

Made for just 2008 and 2009, the Buick Lacrosse Super was a wolf in sheep’s clothes. Power came from the 5.3 L LS4 small-block V8 engine featuring Active Fuel Management technology, which is routed to the front wheels, putting out 300 hp at 5600 rpm and 323 lb/ft at 4000 rpm. This powertrain was also found on the Grand Prix GXP, Impala SS, and Monte Carlo SS. The Super model was one of the fastest modern production Buick’s ever built, with a factory top speed of 150 mph (240 km/h), and 0–60 mph times of 5.7 seconds.

1986 Pontiac Fiero Hello all, i’m beginning a series called “Car of the Week” which will be mostly based on cars commented by the readers. The premise is to educate others on a specific year of a car, including trims, performance, and a statistical comparison against its’ competitors. Enjoy!!

Remember when you left elementary school and figured you’d never see a glue stick again? General Motors never got past second grade. A problem i’ve recently run into with my Camaro is with the sail panel, that chunk of roof between the hatch and T-Tops. Some humidity and 16 years of sun combined to create a mess for me, the paint was bubbling up and popping.

Today’s Cars aren’t Fun. They are too complicated and rely far too much on technology. Such luxury is a handicap.
