This is part 3 of my Holden history. This will not cover as many of the models as I said in the previous part as there is too much content for a single post. Therefore this part will cover the period from 1965 to 1971. Part 4 will then cover the cars from 1972 to the introduction of the Commodore.

A lot has progressed since I initially posted my car in my CarThrottle garage, it has been through a massive amount of body work and is not far off going into paint. The car has gone through a bare metal restoration using old-school techniques. Pictured above is a concept rendering that I created of my car, and in the below gallery is the car as it was after all of the repair work. The photos don’t do it justice as the body lines and panel gaps are awesome, far better than it was from the factory.

This is part 2 of my Holden history which covers the period from 1948 to 1964. Part 3 will cover the H-series cars and the various Torana’s until the introduction of the Commodore. Part 4 will cover the entire commodore lifespan from the VB to the VF. If there is further interest I will make a part 5 covering concept and custom coach built cars.

I’ve seen a few people wanting to get some info on the history of Aussie cars. So as a Holden owner and enthusiast I thought I’d shed some light on this topic showing Holden’s rich automotive history. This will be a condensed version covering the period going from the start to the first car. If anyone is interested further I’ll cover the rest of the history.

I spotted this Monaro at the Sandown Historic’s back in Nov 2015. It’s the Holden Dealer Racing Team Monaro GTS 327 that competed in the 1968 Hardie-Ferodo 500 at Bathurst.
