With all the shouting and screaming in the news about Diesels, I though maybe it was time to ditch the 320D for something a bit different. I had originally planned to buy a Jaguar 3.0 XFS, but that was diesel, and there is no chance I could afford a 3.0 XFS petrol. Looking at other alternatives the BMW 330e caught my eye. After a test drive and much research, I’ve decidied to buy a 330e, and here is why.

During their huge regeneration over recent years Jaguar are starting to release a string of ingenium engines. These new lightweight engines are more powerful and economical than their predecessors. 2017 will see the production of Jaguars ingenium petrol engines with 2 on offer; 2.0 4cyl or a 3.0 Straight 6. Both featuring twin scroll turbos, and coming in various power outlets up to 400bhp in the most powerful straight 6.

We all know how the BBC likes to be politically correct all the time. We also know how ex-employee Clarkson is one of the least PC people on the planet. So it was always going to be a difficult relationship. We saw evidence of his new freedom on Amazon in the forst show where he made a joke about gipsys not having car insurance. But now we’re at a time of yeat where everyone likes to wish each other happiness and peace. So does Jeremy Clarkson but he also opened up a few deep wounds along the way with this tweet.

Some cars we look back on and as petrol heads we’re just certain that they will become classics, up there with the Jaguar E-Type, Mercedes 300SL Gullwing, BMW M1, Aston Martin DB5, Ford Mustang GT350 etc… the list could go on forever. Even more recentley we are seeing more modern cars rocket in value. The BMW E46 M3 CSL a few years ago would set you back about £40-50k. Now you’re looking at more £60-70k for a prestine example. So I just thought I would list 5 cars which I thought could soon become classic cars that we rave about to our kids / grandkids.

I know you have looked at the title thinking ‘what are you going on about?’ But hear me out… Just for a moment consider where Jaguar have come from in recent years. It was only 10 years ago the X and S-Type were just not up to the job (no surprise) Ford, the owners were riddled in a financial crisis and decided to sell Jaguar, and empty their bank account on the way out. Then along came TATA money and the XF! The XF had to sell otherwise it could be curtains. Thankfully it did and Jaguar is still very much with us today, frankly making a comeback like that of Lazarus.
