#BonnevilleSaltFlats Feat. Ford Falcon FG X G6E aka. Pride of the Boganshire
Since when I have responding to these challenges?
Quite long tho.
Ahem. So, welcome to my post of the #BonnevilleSaltFlats build, which the main purpose is to churn the highest speed possible in one mile at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Unlike any other build posts, I made a story about the car I’m going to build fo the challenge. Note: if any parts is typed with bold letters, that means it is the parts I’m gonna use for the build. Stats for the car, is shown in italics.
So, here’s the story.
It’s the famous “Speed Week” in the Bonneville Salt Flats. Sydney-born, V8 Supercars-trained bogan Jeff O’Helden or known as the “Jeff the Cannon” came to the salt plains with a trailer, loaded with a car.
The security officer saw it, and said hi to Jeff.
Jeff told: “Sir, I’m going for the Speed Week.
The officer said: “Show me the car, pal.”
Jeff opened the carriage, and shown the officer the car.
The Car: Ford Falcon FG X G6E
The officer exclaimed: “Whoa. So, are you Aussie? I saw your car have a “Pride of the Boganshire” sticker.
He told the guy: “How you know that I’m Aussie, mate, yes, the sticker is the nickname of my car. Let me give you some good Aussie beer.” gives VB to the officer
The security guard took the beer, and he let Jeff go. Yeah, the security guard doesn’t know that’s not an ordinary G6E, but the Barra was removed in favor of an another engine:
The Ford FR9 EFI V8.
The NASCAR engine, is not your usual 429 V8. This all-American, old-school V8 generates 800 hp in stock and it can make 300+ km/h NASCAR weapons. This one, is fully rebuilt and upgraded with better camshafts, and of course a supercharger to make it to 1600 hp, enough to slay Bugattis in this place. But it looks like a FG X Falcon on the outside. No wonder the guard don’t know about it.
Before the race started, Jeff met his Canadian friend Luke. Luke is driving his Dodge Viper SRT10, loading a supercharged V10 with 1500 hp. It’s already an thirsty motor, but with this power it’s going to be more thirsty.
Jeff greeted to Luke.
Luke said hi to Jeff.
“Oh, look man, your car is ain’t a slouch.” Jeff explained to Luke about the Viper.
Luke told him to show his car. Jeff then took out the Falcon to Luke.
Luke told him, “Are you sure this is gonna be it? Pop the hood.”
Jeff opened the hood.
Luke was show how powerful it would be. But then you need to know how much power do this car should need a good suspension to hold it.
Good suspension is the key for higher speeds. He installed a race suspension, which would can withstand high speeds. Also, the car have the best Wilwood race brakes, Eibach race springs and suspension tuning. To achieve high speeds faster, he installed an AWD swap and also wet direct port nitrous system inside the car.
So, what makes this car fast?
Jeff then installed some nice set of wheels with sweet, Italian Pirelli race tyres wrapped on them into the car. He knows that normal tyres are totally useless in this salt-covered track.
Just after he got his suit ready, Luke came.
“Jeff, are you ready to fight me, eh?”
“Yes, mate.”
To enter his weight-reduced, rollcage-fitted car do takes some time. as most of the things that came with the FGX is removed. Then, Jeff sat down in his Sparco racing seats inside the car, bucking his Takata 6-point harnesses, and installed a Momo 3-point racing steering wheel to his car. Now it should weight as much as 1000 kg.
The car later has arrived at the race track, and he’s ready.
A grid girl came and she waved a flag.
“3…2…1…”
Start.
Jeff’s G6E have started and it’s taking the lead. The car, with it’s titanium drive shaft, and also a drag automatic transmission, tuned for top speed, he would know he could won this time.
2.8 seconds later, the car’s speedometer reached 62 mph. Another 4 seconds (6.8 seconds total), 200 km/h has achieved.
With nitrous, the car is slaying virtually every one else, and then Jeff won with 420 km/h on top. The drag racing parachute was deployed after Jeff won the race.
After the race, Luke came.
Luke told that Jeff made a good times on the straight track. Jeff smiled, gave Luke a bottle of VB, and he drove away.
And yes, could anybody will not be sacred as the “Pride of the Boganshire” keep winning top speed runs in this iconic salt flats?
The End.
