What's the biggest rip-off in the car world?

My worst experience was with a garage who wanted to charge me £50 to read out my check engine light… bought a £3 eBay plug and did it myself…

A mechanic in a garage tried to trick me during an inspection with telling me the ignition cables have to be changed because the isolation is damaged. I walked over to my car (hood open, engine cover removed) and told him to show me the “cables”. He went silent and blushed and I demanded to see his boss because I was really pissed off. My particular engine had an ignition module that was sitting right on top of the spark plugs and it only had a system-connector that went straight to the ECU. The irony was I just had changed the module because of misfiring. At the end I got the inspection for free to keep me quiet. It didn’t help much, I didn’t keep my mouth shut. This is the module I mean.
