What's an underrated engine that deserves some time in the limelight? I'd like to put forward the Toyota 3S-GE 'Beams' engine. Probably overshadowed by the 2JZ, but it's super revvy, tuneable, and produced with Yamaha.
my dream is to swap my rev4 3SGE for a BEAMS one but they are hard to come by and expensive when you finally find one. but from what I’ve read and heard this should be the best possible engine you could swap into an sw20. and as I am a “na all the way” type of guy, this engine really is my dream swap.. .. Anybody got a spare one and is willing to accept payments of 50 euros a month? Didn’t hink so.. ..

2zz-ge and 2zz-gze 1.8 vvti engines, used in the later lotus Elise and exige the gze being a supercharged variant, apparently they are a spiritual successor to the 4AGE’s
The Honda K24, those things have such potential, and are pretty bulletproof in my experience.
The Cadillac Northstar V8 has a ton of torque so it can haul those 5000lbs+ hunks of metal
I prefer the red beams over the black beams
Oh and the 4efte is extremely capable for a little 1.3 turbo engine, it kind of did what all these small displacement turbo engines in the latest cars do in the 90s plus it came pretty de-tuned from factory
3sge BEAMS engines will cost a lot more if you hype them up and I can’t afford to swap one into my AE86! Please keep them underrated for cheap 4 cylinder awesomeness. Thx.
