The 10 Coolest CT Garage Cars Of The Last 7 Days
CTzen Daniel has bought what many of us will only ever dream of: a Shelby GT350. Underneath the hood sits a 5.2-litre flat-plane crank V8 producing over 500bhp and 400lb ft of torque. Thanks to its clever ‘MagneRide’ adjustable dampers, 394mm discs, six-piston callipers and super-sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber, Daniel’s 350 is one hell of a track-friendly ‘Stang, and with this black on black colour scheme, the car looks more aggressive than a Donald Trump protest. Daniel, you tha man!
Speaking of being ‘tha man’, Sam Newey also gets kudos for two reasons…1. His car is beautiful and 2. He’s written a whole load of words for us to pour over, and that’s always awesome to see! Anyway, back to the car.
Sam’s 1997 Efini RX-7 has been in his garage for only a few months and the plan is to keep it bone stock because of time constraints (we’ll see how long that lasts). Despite the rotary-powered car breaking down once, a big bonus here is that Sam’s grandmother likes it. And if she’s a fan, then who the hell are we to argue?
Make sure you click on the link for Sam’s driving impressions and details of what it’s like as a daily driver.
It’s pretty rare to see a Honda CR-X on these pages, and that’s a shame, because they look great and, this being the late 1990-spec Si model, we think we’re right in saying that it’s got the 1.6-litre engine with 108hp, meaning that it’ll have some poke at least.
The car was restored four years ago with new sills and rear arches and it sits on Weitec coilovers and custom-painted Rota GT3 wheels. The mileage on Johnny’s CR-X is an impressive 178k, not that you’d guess from the beautiful condition of the exterior.
CTzen Bill’s foxy Fairlady is his dream project car bought last year in July. So far, the car is mainly stock, ‘save for a rear anti-roll bar, and period correct Western Wheels’ plus a gorgeous respray from faded red to an off-shade of Grigio Estoque. It’s nice to see such an unmolested car such as this one in the CT Garage, so hats off to Bill.
From a classic JDM car to a classic German whip. CTzen Mark’s 930 Turbo runs up to 1.0 bar boost and features a bunch of cosmetic upgrades, a K27 Turbo and Garrett intercooler, plus C2 Turbo Cup wheels and B&B headers. Check out Mark’s Garage for an acceleration video and a lovely ass shot (of the car).
The FJ Company was started when the company’s owners’ grandfather died, leaving his FJ in need of restoration. In honour of their grandfather, the FJ was brought back to its former glory (it looks incredible in the pics), and because the restoration process was so enjoyable, The FJ Company was born.
In their own words, the guys ‘dedicate ourselves to performing the best full, frame-off restorations of the classic Japanese Toyota FJ20, 40, and 60 Series Land Cruisers – creating modern versions of this classic ride for today’s driver.’
CTzen Kristian’s 1992 BMW 323i is no ordinary daily driver. Instead, it’s a stripped-out track addict with light weight (1050kg), loads of power (approx 210hp) and a fully reinforced chassis and upgraded suspension. Race rules dictate that the car needs to have an open diff and 16-inch wheels, but even so, the 323i is one hell of a car as you can see from the race video that Kristian has included in his CT Garage upload. You’ll also see 20 pics of the car’s epic transformation from an old man’s car to what you see now.
Off-road enthusiasts will love CTzen Chris Urban’s (what a wonderfully ironic surname you have) Cherokee Sport. As you can see, it’s far from standard (more pics in the comments at the link) as it’s been kitted out with a substantial lift kit and 33-inch tyres. He tells us that an LED light bar is soon to be fitted as will a custom roof rack, a winch and a bull bar.
Chris, when you get a chance, we’d love to see this thing in full off-road attack mode!
Okay, so this isn’t actually a car at all (technically, it’s a quadricycle), but it is certainly cool. We drove one of these things for a ‘Living With’ video (below) a while ago, in fact, and had a ball behind the wheel. Matt’s reasoning for getting a Twizy was because ‘I have recently become a student and needed something to get me to and around uni each day that would do greater than 13mpg from my RX8. Thankfully university is only 10 miles away and doesn’t require me to go above 52mph!’ Fair play to that, we say!
By far the coolest CT Garage car of recent times was celebrity Spongebob Squarepants’ 2014 Pagani Patty Wagon.
In his own words, it’s got a ‘Sesame Seed surface finish. Grilled Leather Interior. Radial Pickles. Fuel-injected deep fryer with dual overhead grease traps. Soda-shaped stickshift. Fork-shaped gas pedal. Spoon-shaped brakes. Spatula-shaped ignition key.’
Personally, I’m a fan of the colour scheme (despite my own car sporting the McDonald’s livery), and the custom fender flares at the front. 10/10 would drive that into my mouth.
Remember, CTzens, include a few details and plenty of pics of your cars to be eligible for future ‘Coolest CT Garage Cars Of The Last 7 Days’ features!
