8 Supercars The Dodge Hellcat Redeye Could Beat On The 1/4 Mile
The new Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye is properly, astonishingly, maddeningly powerful. It’s received a detuned version of the Challenger Demon’s V8, developing a moderately absurd 786bhp (or a neater 797hp).
For the base model with its 275-section rear tyres, that’s a bit of a worry. Is there enough rubber in the world to keep Redeye owners supplied with fresh rear boots, after all the unintended smoky launches?
But it’s not the only version of the Redeye available. You can also spec it in Widebody form, which means those skinny rear tyres become 305mm wide fatties. In the process, three tenths are cut from the quarter-mile time, giving a figure of 10.8 seconds.
That got us thinking: what cars could this $76k muscle barge theoretically beat on a quarter-mile run? We’ve drawn up the following list of cars which are either a little slower according to the figures, or exactly the same.
The list does need to be taken with a little pinch of salt - the figures used are a mix of manufacturer claimed figures, estimates and real-world tests, and the Redeye isn’t going to be able to do that 10.8sec run every time. Nevertheless, it makes for interesting reading.
And in any case, a drag race between a Redeye and any of these is going to be seriously close. Let’s cross our fingers for some YouTube videos…

And then it gets to a corner and either crashes goes half the speed of any car on this list
Not nessecarily. Those 305s greatly improve handling.
So people complain that the only true muscle car left is the Challenger and then also complain it isn’t like the Camaro or Mustang?
The Challenger is bigger than both. If you want it to be smaller and more like a pony/sports car then that’s all well and good. But don’t complain when the interior isn’t as big or the trunk isn’t as usable.
Yeah it’s faster but is it cooler then the others… Definitely not
What do you mean? Of course it is!
That opinion. Not a fact. Comparing coolness is like comparing looks. Pointless.
Yeah cool. But what about on a track? 0-60 times are cool, but what about other factors, right? This is what I think Dodge doesn’t get.
They have other models for that.
Ask for them to make a proper T/A then.
The best Challenger in the 2019 lineup to make a track car out of is the R/T ScatPack Widebody. Just get one of those, add some more track-oriented suspension (or get the SRT Bilsteins if you don’t want to go go aftermarket), take some weight out and there you go. The widebody already has the tires size for it anyway.
Also, if Dodge didn’t “get it,” they wouldn’t have made the ACR Viper. There’s a difference between “we already have a model for that” and “what’s a track… day?” Sure, they don’t have a model for it now, but is it really a big gap in their lineup if they don’t have one for a few years? You can still buy ACRs (of all generations) after all. Some of which cost the same or near the same as current Challengers.
yeah for sure. think about how many subaru brzs and mazda miatas you can get for the price of one challenger!
But does it blend?
This thing makes 808 hp…
That’s the Demon. The Redeye makes 797 HP.
The Dodge looks better than most of em imo
triggered Lambo, McLaren and GTR famboys attacking you

“America! F* Yeah!”
Well i mean that’s basically what it’s made for after all.. Straight line acceleration..
Makes the 570S and LP610-4 more impressive though - not only they are faster in a straight line but can corner too
LP580-2*. Even more impressive !
