9 Reasons We Hope Apple Doesn't Buy McLaren
This week, it was rumoured that Apple was in talks with McLaren about a possible takeover. The reports were soon quashed by McLaren itself, and while that doesn’t rule out the possibility entirely, it’s probably best it doesn’t happen. After all, who knows what sort of ‘innovations’ Apple might bring to the McLaren stable given the chance.
These are the sort of things we’d have to look forward to…
Sat navs pre-loaded with Bono's voice
Yep, even if you didn’t ask for it.
Wheels that aren't even connected
Just like earphones, wheels have always been attached to the car. Which makes sense. But if Apple got involved…
Hilariously fragile windscreens
McLaren service centres replaced with Genius Bars
McLaren 650S Plus - 20% larger for no apparent reason
Apple Maps loaded as standard
Expect to get lost. A lot. While Bono shouts at you.
Fuel filler cap moved underneath the car
Because having it in an easy-to-reach area is just too mainstream. Also, you’d only be allowed to use official Apple fuel pumps. And they’ll change the nozzle every couple of years, so you’ll have to buy an adapter.
Chronic overheating
New line of 'Beats By Ron Dennis' headphones launched
Actually, maybe this one wouldn’t be so bad…

They fixed apple maps lol
Maybe a 24 karat 570s
I thought they would get rid of the fuel filler cap all together and require the purchase of an adaptor to fill the car with fuel.
They’ll remove the steering wheel too!
Please dont let apple do this….
And no AUX jack…
I want it to stay McLaren, not become MacLaren
Samsung should sponsor McLaren-Honda. They both look good and have fans but are letdowns in reality, and they both specialize in making things that blow up half the time you try to use them. (Hello, Honda)
Bad News: It would be made in China.
