Alfa Romeo's High US Giulia Quadrifoglio Pricing Makes The BMW M4 Look Cheap
Alfa Romeo is being pretty bold with its US pricing for the new 503bhp Giulia Quadrifoglio, wading in at a starting point almost $6000 higher than a BMW M4.
At $72,000 plus local taxes, the fastest Giulia looks expensive next to the $66,200 M4, although US destination charges should be similar.
The updated Mercedes C63 AMG, though, will start at a price comparable to the Alfa’s, following a shock $10,000 price hike versus the outgoing 2015 model.
The M4 looks like a bit of a bargain in that context, but the company could theoretically still announce price rises for 2017.
Ambitious pricing is not necessarily a surprise. The new Alfa is being sold on the premise that it’s more exotic than the usual German suspects, and more special as a result. An engine developed with Ferrari’s help is obviously a boost there.
Lower down the range, the USA will get higher power outputs than the UK when the Alfa Romeo Giulia goes on sale next month.
The spicy Quadrifoglio model will stay at 503bhp across the globe, but while in Britain the petrol engines will be limited to 197bhp and only sold in basic spec, the entry-level US car with the same powerplant will get a stonking 280bhp.
Americans will get a good deal, too, paying slightly more than the British at the current exchange rate but getting a better specification for their money.

why are we comparing an M4? the M3 is a sedan, and wouldn’t that be the most similar?
M4 cost more I think than the M3 and the Alfa still is more
The real question is does that extra six grand include functional blinkers?
(Indicators for my underpowered chaps across the pond)
But I doesn’t make the m4 look better😎
lol buy an m4 for base price. you can be glad if there is a steering wheel
Would you rather have the M3 and everyone think you are a car salesman, or have the Giulia Quadrifoglio and everyone think you are the Mafia? Yeah, I thought so.
How much for the American low spec
Alfa be like ¯_(ツ)_/¯
503 Horses out of a Ferrari engine in an updated Alfa that is RWD and amazingly beautiful could be good bang for buck even if it costed double the price of the M4
“while in Britain the petrol engines will be limited to 197bhp and only sold in basic spec, the entry-level US car with the same powerplant will get a stonking 280bhp.” - so this means the Veloce version won’t be available in Europe? that would explain the automatic-only option.. but still… disappointing
Coolio. but what if i told you that on the m4 19in rims are 1900€, leather interiors are another 1900€ and parking sensor come for a chill 820€? And that are just the most obvious ones that the Giulia has stock. An M4 in a configuration that i would actually buy would surely have at least another 3-4k of goodies on top such as adaptive suspensions and the alarm system. HUD is pretty cool too…
