We’re starting to lose count of the number of Vision Gran Turismo concepts that have been made specifically for the sixth version of the racing game, but with the latest one being possibly the prettiest of the lot, we’re yet to lose interest. It’s the Aston Martin Design Prototype 100, and it’s powered by a mid-mounted, 800bhp twin-turbo V12.

Despite the radical design, there are a few unmistakably Aston-ey bits; just look at the shape of the grille and those slender rear light clusters, for instance.

Each of the wildly protruding wheel arches house a massive, deep-dish wheel with a cookie-cutter style design. The whole car is covered in aerodynamic devices, including one very chunky rear diffuser. It has active aero elements, too.

As with the other Vision Gran Turismo concepts, this radical concept can only be driven in the game, where it’ll be available to download next month. However, Aston has made a 1:1 3D model in real life, which is appearing at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

There’s more point to the exercise than you might expect. Aston design director Marek Reichman said, “Many of the design cues visible in DP-100, such as the light blade rear lamps, could also feed through into future sports cars that we’ll launch in the offline world.” Given how achingly beautiful the DP-100 is, that’s a rather appealing prospect.
