Daniel Ricciardo’s Ultimate F1 Track Looks Like This
Red Bull Racing F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has selected his favourite corners to create his ultimate track, and it’s pretty damn cool!
Returning to Australia after his feisty drive to second place at the Singapore Grand Prix, Ricciardo has collaborated with Fox Sports and showed off a giant model of the track in Scalextric form – measuring in at 35 metres.
It features a real mix of slow and fast corners, starting off with the opening section of the COTA circuit in Texas. Famous turns like the Montreal Wall of Champions chicane, swimming pool section at Monaco and the twisty first segment of corners at Suzuka are also included.
There are, of course, a few corners from his home race in Albert Park, Melbourne, too alongside Maggots and Becketts from Silverstone and Pouhon from Spa-Francorchamps.
It’s a similar set-up to Martin Brundle’s ultimate F1 track, which was also made into a Scalextric circuit and was put up for auction to raise money for charity.
Here’s what Ricciardo had to say about his dream F1 circuit, talking to the Herald Sun:
“Drivers always picture what their ultimate track would look like and it’s exciting to see mine brought to life. I look at the map and I go, ‘Wow, it looks busy’, but I think it would be a lot of fun if some drivers got to drive on it.
“I wish I was 10 years old again and had a big garage that I could fit this in … the track is awesome. There’s a few difficult (turns), I thought I would mix it up. There is definitely some favourites, but the favourites are not that straightforward.”
We actually thought up our own perfect F1 track a little while ago, which shares some of the corners with Ricciardo’s own design. Take a look and let us know in the comments what would make up your dream circuit!
