The Dodge Challenger 'SRT Demon' Is Coming, Because The 707hp Hellcat Is Obviously Underpowered

Dodge just dropped a massive teaser about a new version of the Challenger, which looks set to exceed the monstrous power output of the Hellcat

Power is by far and away the one thing the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat doesn’t need any more of. After all, it does push out 697bhp - or more neatly 707hp - via its oh-so angry supercharged V8. And yet, it seems an even more powerful Challenger is on the horizon.
It’s called the Challenger SRT Demon, and judging by the trailer above with its scary robotic devil thing plus a few words from Dodge big cheese Tim Kuniskis, this thing’s going to usurp the Hellcat in terms of straight-line performance:

“Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture…The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation.”

The Hellcat's 697bhp might be about to look a little limp...

Dodge has released a mini site for the car, giving a countdown for no less than 11 incoming teaser videos (12 including the one you see here), with the last landing on 11 April. The New York Auto Show kicks off on 14 April, so it seems that’s where the car will receive its proper debut.

As Dodge aficionados will tell you, the Demon badge isn’t a new thing. It was used for a performance version of the Dodge Dart back in the 1970s, one of the lesser known muscle cars of the time. It’s likely this new Demon might make more of a mark, however.

Anyone else think it might be a 4WD version of the Hellcat?

Right now, they have an all wheel drive base charger, however it is only in V6 I believe, although they might have made a version for the V8 by now.

Hopefully it’s not just a straight line machine of destruction but it can go around a track like a mustang or camaro
