Frankfurt 2011: Mercedes-Benz' Wonderworld
Where to start with Mercedes-Benz at Frankfurt? Not only did they have a monstrously sized 3 storey building parked in the centre of Frankfurt Exhibition Centre, but they showed the world's press every single one of their vehicles and concepts galore.

The first which we laid eyes upon was the C63 AMG Black Series, a magnificent looking car again in the eye-catching red candy paintjob. This car is the mean two-door racer variant of the already powerful C63 and is powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine which cranks out 510bhp and 457 lb-ft of torque.
With parts derived from the SLS AMG including forged pistons, connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft the car is a meant for the track and channels power to the rear wheels via AMG's Speedshift MCT seven speed auto transmission. Inside, and yes there's scaffolding in the rear but that's to save weight and to help with agility and speed. All in all, the whole package will set you back 100,000 Euro and that's if you can get on the waiting list for when this monster arrives at the end of this year.
Also making its worldwide debut at Frankfurt was the SLS AMG Roadster. Unfortunately as it features an opening in the roof, there are no gullwing doors which in my opinion means that the Roadster loses the character that M-B worked so hard to deliver with the SLS coupe. However this will appeal to "wind in your hair" motorists who can still travel at 197mph if need be and hold a decent conversation at 120mph so I'm told. The Roadster with its strengthening rods is only 5 pounds heavier than the hardtop weighing the scales at 536 pounds.
Following on from the Roadster is the quite bonkers SLS AMG E-Cell. The reason why it's so batshit crazy is the fact that the model featured at the show was painted in luminous yellow. And there were UV lights to help us really see what was going on. Fortunately the same UV lights were around the Lamborghini stand. You know why.
The E-Cell is delivered as part of "AMG Performance 2015" with the aim to cut emissions and improve fuel efficiency. With 4 electric motors, this version of the SLS can hit 62mph in just 4 seconds making it only marginally slower than the petrol-engined sibling.
Above - a glorious white Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG. Another awesomely rapid car, and which used to be criticised as being too feminine in the past. Now it's been restyled to show more aggression.
Finally, Merc revealed their F-125 concept which bridges hybrid and hydrogen. This is an absolute dream car, something you would see on the set of a movie and certainly something which took me aback live at Frankfurt. It is uber sleek and the interior is highly futuristic with touchscreens all over the shop. According to Merc, this is their vision of 2025, claiming that this F-125 concept will be capable of a 1,000 kilometre range between fill-ups of Hydrogen. It has a highly light construction of carbon-fibre and aluminium but is really a stretch to imagine on our current roads.
