Free App Daytona Rush Makes Its Stunning Debut

Hungarian development studio, Invictus Games, just released the Daytona Rush racing app on both iOS and Android. The studio has a long history of creating racing simulation software for the PC, but has moved toward more mobile platforms in recent years to keep up with the trends in gaming.

You might remember Invictus Games as the team behind Street Tuning Evolution, the massive online modding and racing game set for release next year. Its latest release, Daytona Rush, is a completely different game. It’s an endless three-lane traffic racer that adds depth with levels, challenges and tuning abilities to hold your interest. The app rolled out earlier this month for iOS and just last weekend for Android phones.

The overall goal of the game is simple, and like any other endless driver: race your car as far as possible without crashing. The difference here is you can bump other cars, cause spin outs and ram your opponents without knocking you out of the race. Cause too much damage to your car or hit another just right, and you will total your ride, ending your run. With every lap you complete, the traffic gets heavier, and navigating safely around the cars gets more complicated.

Overtaking opponents earns you money which can be spent on a limited amount of upgrades to your car in these three areas:
Engine- Reduce fuel consumption
Running gear- Increase speed of switching lanes
Body- Lessen the blow of an impact

You’ll find it especially helpful to upgrade your running gear so that you can get as close to the opponent you’re following before you overtake. Doing this will earn you more rewards, and you will save fuel by drafting behind the other car. When you do get low on fuel, you will need to ride along the pit lane to fill up and rejoin the race without a crash.

Beside the added challenges, there are five classes of cars to race. The first is the only one unlocked when you begin the game. It is an old stock car with little speed or agility, but in little time you can start working your way up to modern stock cars, trucks and Indy cars. There are other little added features like an action photo at the end of each race that you can share through social media to your friends, and customised graphics.

The best features of the game, though, are the ads (seriously). Invictus got it right with this one. There are no banner ads squeezed on the top or bottom of the screen for you to accidentally tap mid race and ruin a perfect run. You won’t get pop ups on your screen while you’re trying to navigate through the main menu. The only ads you see are short video clips at the end of each race, and they are optional. If you want to double your take away prize money, just click to watch the ad. If you don’t care, skip it. Genius.
