Here's Your First Look At The BMW 8-Series Concept

It looks like the lid has been blown on the BMW 8-series concept before it was due to be officially revealed tomorrow.

The new flagship coupe is due in 2018, coming nearly 20 years after its predecessor was cancelled. BMW was supposed to be revealing a production preview model tomorrow at annual classic and vintage car festival Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. However these images have emerged which seem to show the concept model a day early.

Though not the clearest nor largest pictures we’ve ever seen, they do nevertheless reveal some of the concept’s styling details.

The 7 Series-based coupe is clearly a two-door car, although BMW has recently been producing four-door coupes under the ‘Gran Coupe’ name. Some of the angular styling around the front is classic BMW concept car fare, and may well be softened a little to match the corporate face of the 2, 4, and 6 Series.

A rather grainy rear image shows off hockey-stick tail lights and almost a duck-tail element to the boot lid, which hints that it may hide a retractable spoiler like the Audi A7 Sportback and Porsche Panamera.

More details will doubtless emerge about power options, models and the latest gizmos tomorrow. Bearing in mind that BMW has already trademarked the M8 name, it seems that we can finally expect a properly hot 8-series.
