DTM cars are pretty weird looking machines, with an array of odd winglets and aerodynamic pieces. So, what will Mercedes’ next entry look like? Now the company has released this early artists impression we have our first chance. And it’s a bit of a beauty.

With sleeker aero and more defined lines, the outward design will be based on the road-going AMG C63 Coupe. It’ll replace the German brand’s current car next season.

Mercedes could be the only manufacturer with new bodywork in 2016, as BMW is sticking with its M4 design and Audi remains focused on 2015 for now.

Ulrich Fritz, head of Mercedes-AMG DTM, explained:

"The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupé will again set new standards for driving dynamics and design. So, the vehicle provides the ideal basis for our DTM car. I’m already looking forward to seeing the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM compete in 2016. Our aim with this vehicle is, of course, to continue the Mercedes-Benz success story in the DTM."
