I'm Driving A VW Golf GTI Clubsport For Six Months: What Do You Want To Know?
Christmas has come a few days early for TeamCT, as we’ve just been given the keys to this rather dapper hatchback for just under six months. It’s a Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 40 Clubsport - to give it its official name - although I suspect we’ll just end up calling it The Clubsport.
It effectively replaces the BMW M2 we’ve been running since September, although that car will be sticking around for another couple of weeks.
It produces 286bhp when its overboost function kicks in (yo?), and will hit 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds. It’s fitted with VW Group’s fancy VAQ differential, so can send anything up to 100 per cent of that power output to either front wheel if required. It also has a pretty cool aero package, which cancels out lift entirely.
‘Ours’ is the five-door DSG automatic version in Tornado Red, and as such it has the largest base price of the range at £33,005. After adding £1350 bucket seats, £830 adaptive dampers, £595 19-inch alloy wheels and a few other optional bits and pieces, the price inflates to £36,721.
As ever with our long-term test cars, we want you guys to get involved. So, what do you want to know about the Clubsport, and what would you like to see us do with it?

How does it compare to Turbo VTAK?
I drove one last week 6 speed manual box, absolute beast of a car, the pop and the crackle it makes is phenominal, plus i can confirm that girls heads do turn when you downshift
Does i make good noises?

Here’s a question. Why does it cost the same as a brand new V8 Mustang? (And a second) And why does it still look like a cardboard box?
how many check engine lights does it come with as standard

Put big wang
How much different is it to the Australia version (The Golf GTi 40 Years)? First difference I see is no keyless entry
Why don’t we get it in the U.S.?
Can you perform decent Lift-Off oversteer? I know that the latest GTI has that trick front diff (as many other CTzens have already pointed out). But would yourself or Alex be able to get it really misbehave on track? - Josh@R.I.D
