Jeremy Clarkson Could Be Reinstated As Top Gear Host, But Only If He Has A 'Minder'

The latest update to the ongoing saga now known as 'fracasgate' hints that Clarkson could be reinstated if he allows a 'minder' to watch over him, as the BBC has lost faith in Andy Wilman's ability to control him
Jeremy Clarkson Could Be Reinstated As Top Gear Host, But Only If He Has A 'Minder'

You can imagine this one not going down very well with Jeremy Clarkson. According to the Daily Mail (so take it with a pinch of salt), the Top Gear host is likely to get his job back, but an ‘executive minder’ will be employed to keep an eye on him.

The manager would be positioned above executive producer Andy Wilman, as BBC bosses have become concerned that he is no longer able to control Clarkson. The pair have been lifelong friends, attending school together in Derby.

A senior BBC source was quoted as saying “I think that people do see a way to resolve this, and that is by putting someone strong in to manage the show and manage Clarkson. He is a brilliant broadcaster, everyone can see that.”

The news comes after James May and Richard Hammond refused to continue filming without Clarkson, putting the show’s future into further doubt should the host lose his job. BBC bosses are clearly getting desperate for compromises that keep its most profitable show on television without looking like they’ll let Clarkson get away with anything.
