Koenigsegg in Running to Buy Saab?!

With a General Motors bankruptcy announcement only a day away, the proceedings for the sale of Saab, Hummer, and now Saturn still continues. We've heard of Fiat, Chinese automaker Geely, and a German investment bank being interested in purchasing Saab. However, a report out by Swedish newspaper Dagens Industri tells a different story.
It mentions Fiat but the other two front runners are American financier Ira Rennert and his Renco Group and Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg. That's right Koenigsegg.
If true, that would be an absolute shock. The company has never been mentioned in any reports prior to this. There were rumors of an unnamed Swedish buyer, so it's possible Koenigsegg could be it.
It seems unlikely to me though, that a small volume company with comparatively miniscule revenues wuold have the wherewithall to purchase a mass market automaker like Saab. At the very least, the value of the Saab brand and technology are in the hundreds of millions. In my opinion, Saab's future would be much more secure in the hands of someone like Fiat. I want to see that new 9.
GM is set to announce it's "preferred buyer" in the next few weeks. I can't wait to see who that is and what reports were accurate regarding the sale of Saab. It's going to be an interesting next few weeks.
