Latest Lego Speed Champions Sets Feature Lamborghini, Aston Martin And Mercedes-AMG
They may be aimed at a slightly younger audience than the big Technic kits, but there’s no denying the all-ages appeal of Lego’s Speed Champions sets, which recreate a huge variety of real-world vehicles in smaller, more affordable Lego sets. The company’s just unveiled three new Speed Champions sets for summer 2024, and there’s a wide variety of machinery to get stuck into building.
Firstly, the only single-car set of the three: the Lamborghini V12 Vision Gran Turismo. This is the Italian manufacturer’s entry in Gran Turismo’s long-running programme that sees companies design their own virtual concept cars for the game, free of real-world restrictions. Lambo’s entry to the project was unveiled back in 2019 but didn’t debut in Gran Turismo until the launch of GT7 in 2022. In-game, the outrageous-looking single-seater features the company’s 6.5-litre V12 mated to a supercapacitor hybrid system for a total of 774bhp. It’s also the first Vision GT car to be officially recreated in brick form.
The next set features a pair of Aston Martins with an F1 connection. The centrepiece is the AMR23, the British company’s 2023 F1 contender that collected a host of early podiums before ultimately taking the team to fifth in the constructors’ championship. Complementing it is the Vantage that handles safety car duties at some F1 races – again, it looks to be last season’s car rather than this year’s facelifted version.
Rounding out the three sets is a duo of V8 machines from Mercedes-AMG, representing two of Merc’s most iconic nameplates. The G63, which has just been updated in real life, is the latest high-performance iteration of the brand’s long-running G-Class 4x4, while the SL63 is the range-topping version of the current, seventh-gen SL roadster.
The three new sets are currently available to pre-order, with the Lambo VGT costing £20.99 and the Aston and Mercedes sets coming in at £44.99 each.
