Listen To Ferrari's Sweet-Sounding V6 F1 Engine In A LaFerrari Mule
Is this LaFerrari prototype testing Ferrari's 2014 1.6-litre turbo F1 engine?
Calling all F1 fans: it looks like we don't need to worry about the sound of the new 1.6-litre turbo V6 coming into Formula 1 next year. The video below allegedly shows a LaFerrari prototype being used as a test mule for the new V6, and judging from the F1-style central air intake, this could well be the real deal.
It certainly sounds like a V6, accompanied by the unmistakable whistle of a turbo. Assuming this is the real thing, it's the first time we've heard the new engines other than from a handful of dyno runs, and we think they sound pretty damn sweet. If anything, this unit sounds better than the somewhat characterless 2.4-litre V8 we recently said a spectacular goodbye to.
