This broken, rusty mess is what remains of a 1957 Porsche Speedster barn-find in New York. It has just sold for a ridiculous $57,200.

The shell was sold on eBay, where it attracted 45 bids before the auction ended on Wednesday. The item description says:

This Speedster was found as is after sitting outside for a unknown number of years. It was pulled from an old Roosevelt estate on the North Shore of Long Island. It is believed to have been a race car owned by the Roosevelts and run at Bridgehampton Raceway in the late 50s to early 60s. It appears that it was crashed at some point in history and was parked. It still has part of the racing numbers on the side along and a roll bar.

It might be in rough shape, but that didn't put enthusiasts off. So here's the secret to getting rich: open up a few barns, find a super-rare classic car (formerly owned by the family of an American President if possible) and chuck it on eBay. Simples.
