Live Stream: Watch Felix Freefall From Space With Red Bull Stratos

The highest freefall jump ever. 23 miles above the Earth's surface. And it's live!

Felix Baumgartner's name is about to enter the record books. If all goes to plan, that is. For the first time, Car Throttle is live streaming an event - and this one promises to be one of the most spectacular watched by YouTube's billion-strong audience, ever!

The video timer is ticking down above, so while we're waiting, let's get you up to speed. Red Bull Stratos have found Felix, who started skydiving at the age of 16, and have strapped him onto a balloon which is currently rising to an altitude of 23 miles above the surface of the Earth. From there, he will jump and freefall reaching an insane terminal velocity of nearly 700mph. That means he'll be going supersonic and will be the first lad to break the speed of sound.

Baumgartner aims to open his 'chute at around 5,000 feet which will mean a fall of 22 miles. Let's hope he doesn't go splat. But if he does, you'll be the first to see it.

History in the making... let's go!

Update (9th October 14:00 BST): adverse weather conditions have delayed launch, but all's set for the world record attempt to still occur.

Update (9th October 19:00 BST): Launch aborted due to adverse weather conditions. Stay tuned as the Stratos mission is still on the cards.
