Lotus Has Managed To Create Yet Another New Version Of The Evora
While there are some all new vehicles from Lotus on the way, for the time being the Norfolk-based sports car specialist has been busy fiddling with its existing cars to create new models seemingly out of thin air. However, the firm has been going one step further by producing fiddled versions of its fiddled versions. ‘Sportscarception’, let’s call it.
It all started when Lotus heavily re-worked its Evora to create the Evora 400. Then, the Evora 400 was itself tweaked to create the 410, and now there’s this: the Hethel Edition Evora 400.
Built to celebrate 50 years of Lotus’ residency at its Hethel factory with its amazing test track, this special-edition car takes the regular Evora 400 and adds, err, not a lot actually.
It’s available in a range of classic Lotus colours including Essex Blue, Motorsport Black, and Racing Green. The interior meanwhile is available in either red or black depending on the exterior colour you spec, and with either leather or Alcantara trim. The whole lot is finished off with ‘bespoke graphics’ and silver forged aluminium rims with contrasting brake callipers.
Mechanically it’s identical to the regular 400, which means a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 mounted in the middle putting out 400bhp. 0-62mph is possible in 4.2 seconds, while at the top end it’ll run out of breath at 186mph.
Want one? You’ll need to pay £75,500 for the privilege.

Hey Matt could you review your Golf?
Could do. It’s not very exciting though!
This is what happens when you have no money, no imagination but need to keep the public interested. But how can you keep the public interested when you shunned the new Esprit when it was in test mule phase?
Because foreign investment. Damn I hate this side of capitalism and free market…….
NEWS: Ferrari allowed them to use their test track for testing the new Evora ;)
I still want a new Esprit !
This car perfectly shows the direction in which Lotus is going.Downhill.I swear they keep banging on about a wealthy investor or a new model only for nothing to happen…
So sad to have to agree with this. Lotus was one of those manufacturers that always flipped the finger to big sportscar manufacturers churning out stupid expensive cars. Now they are jumping on the badnwagon…
They’ve been having record sales since their new boss came in
My pants approve of the styling.
If I buy one imma be for Evora lone
But will it drift is the question.
Lotus offices: How about a faster formula 1 car or a new model, OR EVEN BETTER A NEW VERSION OF THE EVORA WITH AN EXTRA 2HP
Is it just me or do new cars just look so cheaply made. Even when you’re putting out $100k it still looks like the interior in a Chevy.
Well, that’s just the way it is now. The automotive market is getting very tight and manufactures have to have the lowest prices possible.
What looks cheap? It’s all leather…
I feel like people just toss around “bad interior” without knowing what it means. Like when someone with an s13 shouts from behind their cracked dash to tell me my Mustang has a bad interior.
If all you see is leather and alcantara, the only way to pass judgement is to feel it for yourself. If you’re just mad it looks GM, GM’s been working pretty hard lately
