The New Audi TT RS Is Here, But It's Damn Expensive
Audi has continued its love for the legendary five-cylinder engine with the new TT RS - a 395bhp beast that could offer a budget option to bridge the gap between the R8 and TT S.
Completing 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds, the RS could be one of the greatest bang-for-your-buck road cars on sale today. The new car is 26kg lighter than the previous TT RS, and has a top speed of 174mph.
These stats all sound great, but they come at a price. The TT RS comes in at £51,800 (or £53,550 for the Roadster), making it a chunk more expensive than its main rival - the 350bhp Porsche 718 Cayman S. The Cayman is priced at £48,834, making life very hard for Audi’s ultimate sports car.
Saying that, the Audi is much quicker than the Porsche, delivering truly supercar-esque acceleration in either coupe or convertible form. So, would you pay that bit extra for the five-cylinder howl, or take the safe option with the four-cylinder boxer Porsche? Comment below!

I think it’s worth it. Tts are quite underrated
Id go with oversteer
But the question is: will it understeer??
So its main rival is its cousin? Alright……….
A Porsche is a Porsche. Audi is meh. And the cayman looks so much better too. I would take the cayman without any hesitation.
5-pot forever!
TT-RS is a poor man’s R8, because a man is a poor man he cant even afford a poor man’s R8. Because poor man’s R8 is £52,000 and poor man is poor AF and he dont have £52,000 to afford poor man’s R8.
There should be a Poor AF Man’s R8.
5 cylinders will always be more than 4.
Whats wrong with this car is that it is still a FWD based AWD. A transversely mounted engine should not be in a car like this.
Unfortunately it still has better handling characteristics over longitudinal, I stripped significant weight off the front of my 91 coupe Quattro but it still likes to push the front unless I really hammer on the throttle
“£52,000”
