The New Mustang GT500 Could Have Well Over 700bhp

Ford is currently in the process of developing its GT500 Mustang and aims to create the most powerful muscle car currently on sale.

Taking on the 707bhp-Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, Ford Performance has been seen testing a twin-turbocharged variant of the current Mustang’s 5.0-litre V8 predicted to produce in the region of 740bhp.

The New Mustang GT500 Could Have Well Over 700bhp

Despite the engine being downsized from the GT350’s 5.2-litre power unit, the use of forced induction should see the GT500 take the title that Ford is yearning for. If the rumours are true, the new GT500 will sit around 80bhp above the previous generation car and nearly 100bhp over the 2017 Camaro ZL1.

The Mustang GT500 is expected to go on sale at the tail-end of 2016, with prices unspecified as of yet.

It is.The GT500 has been the exact same idea since 1967.It should be the top dog Mustang.Loads of power, not too much of anything else. It’s the posterboy of Mustangs.A GT350 is much faster on a track with corners.A Stage 3 Roush is as powerful as a Mustang should be and a GT is much cheaper and possibly more fun

Imagine these cars in 2030 (if emissions and mpg rules dont kill it). We’d have 1,500 hp monsters!

Take on the Hellcat? A car that’s had 700bhp for over a year now.

Bit late really.

Please Ctzens, don’t forget that the GT350 was always aimed towards track use and good handling, while the GT500 has always been a more powerful, earth rotating, straight line, freeway runner.

Crazy how you can get a car with more power than a Lamborghini Aventador for about a 1/3rd of the price

More power yes, but you dont need 700+ HP in a car that weighs 3400lbs and is balanced very, very well. Not to mention, AWD and a low centre of gravity!
