New 'Rush' Featurette Shows F1 Was Badass In The Seventies
The 1976 Formula 1 season was an epic tale of conflict, talent and heartbreak. Niki Lauda and James Hunt's famous rivalry came to a head when Lauda nearly lost his life in a fiery smash at the Nurburgring. 'Rush' tells that story.
The movie stars Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers) as James Hunt, exhibiting a raw talent and playboy lifestyle colliding with the serious, professional approach of Lauda, played by Daniel Brühl (Inglourious Basterds).
If you haven't been following director Ron Howard on Twitter, you should. Giving behind the scenes access it has been a fascinating insight into what it takes to tell such an incredible story, while the featurette demonstrates that Howard has done a beautiful job recreating the terrifying world of Formula 1 in the '70s - "when sex was safe and driving was dangerous."
The script is as inspirational as it is moving, using real quotes from the men themselves to ram home the fearlessness ingrained into drivers of the time, as well as the fierce rivalry, respect and determination needed to succeed.
'Rush' is due to be released on 13th September, but if you can't wait that long this new featurette will seriously whet your appetite.
