It may not be one of the Lotuses in which he scored his first race victories, or one of McLarens he steered to three world championships, but this is still a very significant car from Ayrton Senna’s career. That’s because this is the Toleman TG183B: the Brazilian driver’s very first F1 car.

Powered by a Hart 1.5-litre turbocharged four-pot, this Toleman was raced by Senna in the first four Grands Prix of the 1984 season, where he scored two sixth place finishes to claim his first world championship points. After it was replaced by the TG184, the car was kept by the team for some time, before being sold and eventually restored stateside in the early 1990s.

It’s now back in the UK, and is up for sale by Cars International with full documentation and even a spare engine block. There’s no word on price, although given the car’s historical significance, it won’t be cheap.
