£32k Buys You A V12 TDI Audi Q7 With The Same Torque As A Pagani Huayra
“664lb ft - that’s cute” - read the caption on the meme at the top of the comments page of our Audi SQ7 review. Given that the image this text was slapped on depicted the V12 TDI Q7, the SQ7’s predecessor, I suppose the CTzen had a point.
738lb ft of torque. That’s the amount of twist available from the beast’s 6.0-litre, twin-turbo V12 diesel engine. That’s just 2lb ft off a Pagani Huayra, and the bonkers 9FF GT9. In fact there’s not much out that produces more torque in the motoring world: go any higher and you’re in an area dominated by the likes of Koenigsegg and Bugatti.
It’s more powerful than the SQ7’s V8, too. The colossal engine, claimed by Audi to borrow technology from the firm’s R10 TDI endurance racer, puts out 493bhp. So it’s an impressive technical achievement, but thanks in part to the previous-gen Q7 being much heavier than the new one, it’s slower: 0-62mph takes 5.5 seconds, compared to 4.8 in the SQ7.
Unsurprisingly, this massive, borderline antisocial SUV didn’t sell in particularly large numbers. If you believe the numbers on Howmanyleft.com (which are usually best taken with a pinch of salt), just 31 are registered in the UK. It’s still as niche a product today as it was when the model still occupied vast areas of Audi showrooms, but it is at least a lot cheaper.
Originally, Audi charged getting on for £100,000 for these things, but now you’ll pay less than a third. This one is up at £32,295, although it is a little on the leggy side with 88,500 miles on the clock. We can think of many other ways we’d prefer to spend that kind of cash on the used market, but if you want to roll around on supreme comfort while packing the kind of torque that’ll slow down the rotation of the Earth, you’ll struggle to do better.

I want one!!
We all know what you bought in TDU2 instead….
Well, I didn’t.
Nope.More like one of those cars i never bought.
I had an Audi Q7 at the beginning, but later sold it for the Spyker - The spyker was way faster. But it’s one of the ugliest cars I’ve ever seen, especially the fish-like front grille
My mate had the V12 Q7 on TDU2 and i had the ML63. The ML was superior to the Q7
That car has so much torque it doesn’t move… it simply rotates the earth beneath it.
Oppa
Audi Q7.A Pagani Huayra For Those Peoples That Cannot Afford It
Lol I doubt most will be able to afford even this Q7
Do you really need to accelerate faster? That’s not exactly the point of this ocean liner

It’s diesel??
yes
There is an abandoned V12 Q7 in a car dealership in north-east of UK
Owner bought the car, but then returned it claiming it was damaged by the dealership (although it was not). The dealership did not agree to return any money. So he just left the car at their car park. It’s all covered with webs and moss :(
You might also look at V10 TDI Touaregs. Slower, but no less epic. And much, much cheaper. There is one with just 43k miles for £26k.
And its one of the worst VW engines… crap PDs, overheating rear cylinders, water and diesel flows into the oil…
I recently read this comes on the top 10 list of most polluting diesels in the world.
